Characteristics and Classification of Rolling Bearings

Mar 13, 2018

● Characteristics of rolling bearings

Although there are many types and varieties of rolling bearings and have their own inherent characteristics, compared with sliding bearings, they have the following common advantages:

1. The friction coefficient of rolling bearings is small, about 1/10 of the axle bush.

2. High degree of standardization and international interchangeability.

3. The internal clearance of rolling bearings is very small, the machining accuracy is high, the rotation accuracy is high, and the rigidity is good.

4. Wide adaptability range of load, speed and operating temperature.

5. Most types of bearings can withstand both radial and axial loads, which can simplify the structure.

6. Suitable for mass production, easy to purchase, maintain, maintain and replace.

Bearings also have certain disadvantages:

1. Rolling bearings are less able to withstand load than sliding bearings of the same volume.

2. The vibration and noise of rolling bearings are relatively large, so it is difficult to be competent for occasions where precision is very high and vibration is not allowed.

3. Rolling bearings are particularly sensitive to metal foreign bodies. Once foreign bodies are entered into the bearing, it is easy to cause early damage to the bearing.

Compared with sliding bearings, rolling bearings have their own advantages and disadvantages. Each occupies a certain applicable situation, so the two cannot completely replace each other. However, due to the outstanding advantages of rolling bearings, rolling bearings have developed into the main supporting type of machinery and are more and more widely used.

● Classification of rolling bearings

In the large category of rolling bearings, it is divided into many subcategories. Subcategories are generally divided according to the direction of load action and the type of rolling body that the bearing can bear. According to this regulation, rolling bearings are divided into:

1. Centripetal bearing (symmetrical contact angle 0 °≤a≤45°).

Deep groove ball bearings, cylindrical roller bearings, needle roller bearings (public contact angle is 0°).

Angular contact ball bearings, self-aligning ball bearings, conical roller bearings, self-aligning roller bearings (symmetrical contact angle 0°≤a≤45°).

2. Thrust bearing (its notally known contact angle 45°<a≤90°).

Thrust ball bearings, thrust cylindrical roller bearings, thrust needle roller bearings (notary contact angle is 90 °).

Thrust angle contact ball bearing, thrust cone roller bearing, thrust self-aligning roller bearing (remnized contact angle 45°<a<90°).

3. Combination bearings.

4. Bearing unit.
