The correct selection of lubricant has a lot to do with the normal operation of double row cylindrical roller bearings. In order to ensure the good operation of the bearing, the following factors should be considered when selecting the lubricant:
1. Operating temperature: the operating temperature of the bearing is the decisive factor for the selection of lubricant. Each kind of lubricant has certain applicable temperature range, and the working temperature affects the viscosity change and lubrication effect of lubricant. Therefore, the lubricant with suitable viscosity should be selected according to the working temperature of the bearing. If the viscosity is too low, it is not easy to form an oil film on the contact surface, while if the viscosity is too large, the frictional heat caused by the viscosity resistance will be large and cause the bearing temperature to rise. Viscosity decreases with the rise of working temperature. In the selection of lubricant, when the working temperature is low, you can choose the lubricant with lower viscosity to reduce the frictional resistance and temperature rise. When the working temperature is high, high viscosity lubricant or lubricant with additives should be used. For the working temperature changes or frequent changes, the lubricant with good viscosity and temperature characteristics should be used. Usually, under the normal working temperature of the bearing, the minimum viscosity of the lubricant in the operation of the bearing is recommended.
2. Working load: the greater the load the bearing is subjected to, the higher viscosity lubricant should be selected as far as possible to ensure that the bearing contact surface can still form a lubricant film under load, so as to minimize friction and wear.
3. Speed: the bearing speed has a direct impact on the work of the bearing. The higher the speed, the greater the heat generated. Bearing speed is high when the oil film is easy to form, so you can choose the low viscosity of the lubricant to reduce the resistance to movement to reduce heat. On the contrary, when the bearing running speed is low, the oil film is not easy to be formed, so you should choose the lubricant with high viscosity, which is good for bearing the load. In general, the temperature rise of the bearing is proportional to the dn of the bearing (the product of bearing inner diameter and speed).
4. Environmental conditions: the good or bad working environment of the bearing also has a close relationship with the choice of lubricant. When the bearing works under the condition of moisture, corrosive gas, low temperature, dust and strong radiation, the lubricating oil is easy to be polluted and deteriorated, at this time, the lubricant with strong resistance to water, wear, corrosion, low temperature and radiation should be used. In the water and dust more occasions, should not use lubricating oil, but should use grease.
